Find the existing Fred and Theresa Holtzclaw reading-guide PDFs associated with Campbell Biology’s eighth edition. Browse by topic, then check the chapter heading inside the PDF before assigning it alongside a textbook.
Several older link labels did not match the files they opened. The corrected entries below describe the inspected PDF headers, while keeping their original addresses. For example, the file with “intro to ecology” in its URL is Chapter 50: Sensory and Motor Mechanisms.
For current course content and skills, use College Board’s AP Biology course page and its linked Course and Exam Description. These legacy resources are supplements; a textbook chapter number is not an AP unit number, and inclusion here does not establish complete alignment or College Board endorsement.
Use a reading guide with a text
- Choose a chapter and open the PDF to confirm its heading and questions.
- Assign selected prompts alongside the relevant reading or diagrams; ask students to explain reasoning rather than copy definitions alone.
- Discuss older terminology and any differences from the course materials currently in use.
- Check printing layout, figures, and permissions before distribution.
Important label corrections
In this collection, Chapter 50 concerns sensory and motor mechanisms; Chapter 52 introduces ecology; Chapters 53, 54, and 55 concern populations, communities, and ecosystems. The old “Chapter 55 Conservation” link opens the Ecosystems PDF. A conservation reading guide has not been verified in this collection, so that former label is not used as evidence of coverage.
